At the end of this training participants would have acquired the knowledge and skills to:

Identify and Interpret traffic laws, rules and regulations of the road, road signs and markings including their implications upon violation.
Identify and analyze motor vehicle documents and documentation processes.

Appreciate the role of traffic regulation in safe driving practices.

The trucking industry is the backbone of the petroleum subsector and drivers are key to all operations. Upon completion of this training participants will possess the competence to:

Clearly understand truck operation and the environment of operation.
Undertake safe driving at all times: Crash avoidance.
Appreciate the dangers associated with petroleum products movement and how to avoid them
Drive both straight and articulated trucks on any road network, operating premises, etc.
Transport different petroleum products in line with prescribed safety and security guidelines, procedures and regulations.
Take charge of the truck, its contents and deliver products without short-landing.
Identify the operating components, their functions and differentiate sounds/symptoms.
Carry out routine checks and interval checks, maintain logs of operation; give correct reports on malfunctioning parts.
Plan, organize and sequence carriage operations that ensure both JIT and Lead Time deliveries of petroleum products.
Demonstrate attitudes and behaviors for Self-regulation.

The participants will possess at the end of this course the capacity to:

Know the different types of dangerous goods including how they are safely moved and delivered.
Identify and prevent the occurrence of hazards of each class of dangerous goods.
Determine how to handle dangerous goods and response in case of any emergency.
Understand and able to interpret transportation documents and documentation process.
Analyze different risks and how to prevent or mitigate their negative impact.
Understand the different types of fire-fighting equipment and appliances.
Handle and drive efficiently when loaded and empty.
Interpret road networks, meaning of road signs, markings and signals.
Avoid social vices that bring troubles to himself or the organization.

The objectives ensure that participants at the end of the course are able to:

Understand the purpose of first aid and its required materials.
Play the role and responsibilities of a first aider, assessing and managing accident victims.
Apply principles of treatment given in different categories of road crash victim(s).
Understand the health and safety regulations applicable to first aid.
Provide basic life support and give appropriate treatment to manage injury to preserve life before driver gets to the nearest health facility.

At the end of the course, participants would have acquired the knowledge and skills to:

Assess personality profile of an Executive Driver.
Practice Intelligent and sensitivity driving.
Play quasi-security role for the executive
Keep the vehicle fit, clean and maintain a conduct of readiness.
Maintain good hygiene, neatness, smartness and integrity.
Give the Executive a high confidence level of safety.
Exhibit excellent behavior, defensive driving and,
Communicate clearly, responsibly, respectfully and truthfully.

At the end of this special course, participants will be able to:

Clearly understand road traffic laws, rules and regulations and compliant obligations
Understand their critical roles in the mass-movement of people and goods in urban and inter-state travels
Practice safe, secure and comfortable driving
Driving techniques when vehicle is on full load and unloaded
Carry out pre-driving activities/actions
Monitor and adhere to safety procedures for movement of people and goods;
Identify and analyze varying traffic conditions of routes and take appropriate actions
Adhere to road sharing practices and comply to obligations for safe driving
Understandand practice Safe-gap driving especially in urban areas
Avoid minor accidents (dents, scratches), serious and fatal accidents in urban areas.

At the end of this course participants will have the capacity to:

Describe vehicle components and interdependent systems, their locations and functions
Differentiate between normal sound from noise of faulty part(s) and fault symptoms
Understand what constitute routine/interval checks, preventive maintenance and repairs
Develop checklist on vehicle maintenance; Attend to minor and common faults
Give correct information to Auto Technicians on faults and how to resolve them
Determine and select appropriate tools for minor and emergency repairs
Carry out vehicle underneath and body interval maintenance
Reduce vehicle routine and interval consumables (PMS, AGO, Tyres, etc.)

Upon the conclusion of this course, participants would have been equipped with the skills to:

Adjust attitude and behavior to conform to all driving conditions and environments.
Communicate adequately, properly, clearly and give credible reports of situations.
